Course Description

This course is designed to equip students with a deep understanding of expository preaching, guiding them through the essential principles and techniques for crafting and delivering impactful sermons. Beginning with sermon preparation, students will learn how to structure main points, introduce and conclude messages effectively, and emphasize central truths. The course also explores the goals of expository preaching, such as teaching, convincing, inspiring, and motivating listeners to action. Students will examine the advantages of this method, including its ability to provide clear biblical theology and address various topics systematically. In addition, lessons will cover sermon analysis techniques, helping students break down and interpret biblical passages for effective preaching.

As the course progresses, students will explore the foundations of therapeutic preaching, which focuses on making messages Christ-centered, Bible-based, and need-oriented. They will study key communication strategies, including relational and empathic delivery, as well as techniques for making sermons applicable to modern audiences. The course also emphasizes evangelistic preaching, discussing the call to preach, the authority of Scripture, and the role of media in ministry. Finally, students will reflect on the urgency of Christ’s return, the importance of extending gospel invitations, and the lifelong commitment to following Christ. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to deliver sermons that are biblically sound, engaging, and transformative.
